GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — Sentencing is set next month for a former Green Bay grade school teacher accused of sexually assaulting two students.
Fifty-eight-year-old Jer Lovaj of Oconto pleaded no contest last week to felony second-degree sexual assault of a child and a misdemeanor count of fourth-degree sexual assault of a child.
A count of first-degree child sexual assault was dismissed but can be considered as part of sentencing. Press-Gazette Media reports the misdemeanor charge was changed from a more serious felony charge.
Lovaj initially pleaded not guilty to all charges. Sentencing is scheduled for Feb. 23.
Prosecutors contend Lovaj inappropriately touched two students at Anne Sullivan School on Green Bay’s east side, where he taught English as a second language.
Lovaj is listed in custody in the Brown County Jail.
