MILWAUKEE (AP) — A Glendale man has been sentenced to 41 years in prison for shooting his two sons, killing one of them, during an argument in their driveway.

Fifty-eight-year-old Robert Washington Sr. pleaded guilty in October to first-degree reckless homicide in the death of 20-year-old Robert Curtis Washington II and to first-degree reckless injury for wounding 15-year-old Wesley Washington.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports Washington was sentenced to 32 years for the homicide, plus nine more for the nonfatal shooting.

The shooting took place in June at the family’s home. According to the complaint, Washington told police he was being disrespected and that some rough play by one of the boys during a basketball game put him over the edge.

Washington apologized in court.
