WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis. (AP) — A Wisconsin Rapids woman testified that she doesn’t remember having a key to the home where prosecutors say her father killed her ex-boyfriend.

Several witnesses have submitted testimony claiming that Jolynn Reinwand did have a key to the home of Dale Meister, Daily Tribune Media reported. Police say he was shot and killed by Joseph Reinwand, 55, in his mobile home in March 2008.

Court documents show Meister, 35, had told several people that he was afraid Reinwand would try to kill him. Meister and Jolynn Reinwand had a child together and were in the midst of a custody dispute.

Jolynn Reinwand previously told police she had a key and gave it to Meister’s brother after his death, according to Vincent Biskupic, a special prosecutor handling the case. The key is important because it could prove that Joseph Reinwand had access to the home without breaking into it, Biskupic said.

Jolynn Reinwand confirmed that the small handgun her father gave her was the same kind used to kill Meister. She said Joseph Reinwand eventually took the gun back when he felt she no longer needed it for protection.

Jolynn Reinwand testified that she had Meister had ended their relationship and she sought a restraining order against him because of the custody battle.

Biskupic told Jolynn Reinwand that a letter her father sent to his granddaughter explained details Joseph Reinwand had told police he couldn’t remember.

The two attorneys representing Joseph Reinwand questioned retired Wisconsin Rapids Police Detective-Sgt. Tad Wetterau, who is testifying against Reinwand, about the validity of interviews he conducted with their client after Meister’s death.

A former cellmate of Joseph Reinwand, who said Reinwand admitted to killing Meister, also testified.
