The Office of Lawyer Regulation is seeking a public reprimand for a Muskego attorney who allegedly failed to tend to post-conviction matters and missed deadlines.

Jeff Stobbe faces six counts of misconduct filed Sept. 9 by the OLR. The counts stem from his representation of five individuals.

According to the OLR complaint, Stobbe missed post-conviction motion deadlines in three cases. He asked the Court of Appeals for an extension on filing times, citing the need for new counsel because he was sick, but the court noted that the motions came too late.

Nevertheless, the court reinstated the post-conviction rights of the defendants in those three cases, according to the OLR.

In two other cases, Stobbe also failed to comply with court orders and was ordered to pay $150 in sanctions. He has not paid those sanctions, and the Court of Appeals has barred him from filing in front of them until he pays.

Stobbe’s license has been suspended since June 2013 for failing to comply with his continuing legal education requirements.

He graduated from Marquette University Law School in 1976. He did not immediately return a phone call Tuesday afternoon.
