MILWAUKEE (AP) — A Milwaukee man tells a federal jury that he felt humiliated and degraded when an officer touched his genitals during what the man says was an illegal strip search.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that Leo Hardy testified Monday that police officer Michael Gasser touched him inappropriately during a 2012 searched him for marijuana. Hardy says he fled after the officer reached into his pants and groped him.
Gasser testified he felt what he suspected was marijuana during the search — although he did not tell his partner about it during the time.
Hardy was not charged with a drug crime after the search.
Dozens of people have sued the Milwaukee Police Department, saying they were searched illegally by officers between 2008 and 2012.
