The state’s Committee of Chief Judges on Monday selected Milwaukee County Circuit Chief Judge Jeffrey Kremers to be its new chief.

Kremers, who has been Milwaukee’s chief judge since 2008, starts Aug. 1 and will replace Kenosha County Circuit Judge Mary Wagner. Wagner served three two-year terms on the committee, the maximum allowed.

The committee oversees administrative issues in the 10 judicial districts.

The state Supreme Court selected Racine County Circuit Judge Allan Torhorst to serve on the committee in Wagner’s spot. The justices also re-appointed Jefferson County Chief Judge Randy Koschnick, Wood County Chief Judge Gregory Potter, Brown County Chief Judge Donald Zuidmulder and Vilas County Chief Judge Neal Nielsen.
