MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A Wisconsin appeals court has denied a new trial for a man convicted of the 1999 armed robbery of then-NBA star Glenn Robinson outside a Milwaukee bar.
The 1st District Court of Appeals on Tuesday agreed with the Milwaukee County Circuit Court’s ruling that new evidence in the case was not credible and therefore no new trial was necessary.
Lisimba Love was one of two men convicted of robbing Robinson, who was playing for the Milwaukee Bucks at the time. The robbers took Robinson’s cash, a Rolex watch, cellphone and assorted jewelry, including an NBA pendant .
Love’s cousin testified in 2013 that he committed the robbery, but the appeals court agreed with the lower court that his testimony was not credible and therefore Love doesn’t deserve a new trial.
