MAUSTON, Wis. (AP) — A Mauston man who killed a woman and badly wounded another in a shooting outside a bar last year has been sentenced to life in prison.

Thirty-year-old Cody Treul was sentenced Monday in Juneau County court. He will not be eligible for release on extended supervision.

Treul was accused of shooting 29-year-old Gail Howland and Ebony Lasher, then 23, outside P.J.’s Bar and Grill in downtown Mauston around midnight on May 31, 2013.

Howland died of her wound. The Wisconsin State Journal reports Lasher is a paraplegic and uses a wheelchair as a result of her injuries.

Treul pleaded no contest to first-degree intentional homicide in March.
