GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — A Door County man won’t spend any more time in jail for a fatal hit-and-run crash.

Mark Sperber served 25 months in jail for the death of 20-year-old John Kennedy, who was struck in his wheelchair in January 2011 in Green Bay.

Sperber won a new trial and decided to take a plea deal. He entered an Alford plea in Brown County to hit-and-run resulting in death. The plea means Sperber does not admit guilt but acknowledges enough evidence likely exists to convict.

As part of the plea agreement, prosecutors agreed not to recommend additional jail time. WLUK-TV reports Sperber was freed following his sentencing appearance in Brown County Circuit Court on Friday.
