DELAVAN, Wis. (AP) — A 39-year-old man has been ordered to stand trial in the stabbing death of his cousin at a Delavan apartment.
The Janesville Gazette reports Judge Daniel Johnson bound over Rafael Olivarez for trial Wednesday in the death of 31-year-old Ivan Guerrero on May 4. He’s charged with first-degree intentional homicide.
According to the criminal complaint, Guerrero’s wife, Brenda Garcia, said Olivarez became belligerent with Guerrero and she saw Olivarez take a kitchen knife and stab Guerrero.
An autopsy revealed he died from blood loss caused by multiple stabs wounds.
According to the complaint, Rafael Olivarez was covered in blood when he later flagged down a police officer. They also allegedly found a blood trail from Guerrero to the door of the apartment.
Olivarez is scheduled for an arraignment June 5.
