MERRILL, Wis. (AP) — A jury has been selected for the trial of a Merrill woman accused of driving drunk, killing two friends and injuring a third in Lincoln County.
A 15-member jury of nine women and six men was chosen Monday. Three of those jurors are alternates.
Twenty-six-year-old Ashley Baumann was charged in 2012 after a rollover crash that June killed 33-year-old Jessica Hartwig and 31-year-old Misty Glisch. Hartwig’s sister and Baumann were badly injured. A state crime lab report showed Baumann had a blood alcohol content of 0.15 percent three hours after the crash.
WAOW-TV reports attorneys argued over a piece of evidence from the crash. Baumann’s attorney demanded that DNA taken from a seat belt be made available before testimony begins. The prosecution argued that request was a delay tactic.
