WAUSAU, Wis. (AP) — A Minnesota man who said he was high on methamphetamine when he accidentally killed his girlfriend in Wisconsin has been sentenced to 28 years in prison.
A Marathon County judge also ordered 23-year-old Richi Vue, of St. Paul, to serve seven years of extended supervision following his release. Vue was accused of leading police on a long chase at speeds of nearly 100 mph after shooting 20-year-old Lee Xiong at her apartment near Wausau in 2012. A 14-year-old girl witnessed the shooting and called police.
Daily Herald Media says nearly two dozen members of Vue’s family and friends attended the sentencing hearing Tuesday.
Judge Greg Grau called Vue a “real and significant threat” to the public who had a “total disregard for the safety and well-being of other human beings.”
