FOND DU LAC, Wis. (AP) – A Fond du Lac woman accused of fatally shooting her husband told police the two struggled over a gun in the bathroom of their home and it fired twice, according to a criminal complaint.

Eve Nance, 37, is charged with first-degree intentional homicide and hiding a corpse and is being held in the Fond du Lac County Jail on $300,000 bond. The naked body of Timothy Nance was found in a wooded area in Milwaukee on Thanksgiving Day. He had been shot twice in the head, according to the complaint. It said detectives learned that Timothy Nance had several extramarital affairs and planned to divorce his wife.

The courtroom was packed with family and friends of the couple Wednesday when bond was set at $300,000 for Eve Nance, according to Action Reporter Media.

Cherie Holstein of Fond du Lac, Eve Nance’s aunt, said after the hearing that the family is confused, and that Nance’s 19-year-old daughter, who is seven months pregnant, is in shock.

“We are praying and we believe in God. We are keeping close together,” she said. “But I don’t think we are getting the real story or the truth because none of this makes sense.”

Rodney Emerson of Fond du Lac, a friend of Timothy Nance’s, said the family is focused on preparing for the funeral.

“Tim is not the only victim here,” Emerson said, referring to the Nance’s daughter. “She lost a mom and a dad.”

A preliminary hearing is scheduled Dec. 12.
