MADISON, Wis. (AP) – A Madison man has been sentenced to seven years in prison for driving drunk and slamming into another vehicle, killing a passenger and injuring the driver.
Prosecutors say there was no evidence Lawren Prisk hit the brakes before smashing into the back of a Volkswagen Beetle at about 100 mph near Sun Prairie in August 2012. Twenty-year-old Conor Dunleavy was killed. Twenty-four-year-old Jamie Lauter was injured.
Authorities say Prisk’s blood alcohol concentration was twice the legal limit to drive. The State Journal says Dane County Judge Nicholas McNamara noted that Prisk made “real, affirmative changes” in his life since the fatal crash when sentencing him on Monday. Prisk said he will never drink again.
