WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis. (AP) – A Marshfield man who was convicted of dousing a pregnant woman with gasoline and punching her in the stomach several times has been sentenced to six years in prison.
A Daily Tribune Media report says 24-year-old Tyler S. Ress was sentenced Tuesday.
Prosecutors say Ress assaulted the woman in September 2012. According to the criminal complaint, he poured gasoline on the woman and held a lighter near her, threatening to set her on fire. The complaint says he also punched her repeatedly, telling her he wanted her to miscarry.
A message left with Ress’ defense attorney Wednesday was not immediately returned.
Ress is currently in Waupun Correctional Institute for unrelated charges. His six-year sentence will begin after he finishes his current sentence, which will end in two to three years.
