Barron County prosecutor appointed to circuit court

Gov. Scott Walker has appointed Barron County Assistant District Attorney Maureen Boyle to a judge position at Barron County Circuit Court, Branch 3.

The appointment was made to fill a vacancy left after Judge James Babbitt retired Oct. 11.

Before moving to Rice Lake in 2008 to become an assistant district attorney in Barron County, Boyle worked as an assistant district attorney in Walworth and Rock counties. She also served as the assistant director of the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s Resource Center on Impaired Driving from 1998 to 2001. She has taught classes to prosecutors and police at various places, including the UW Law School.

Boyle has a bachelor’s degree in journalism and a law degree from UW-Madison.
