MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Former Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Secretary Matt Frank says he won’t run for attorney general.
Frank said he’s not prepared to commit the next five to 10 years to the job should he win it.
Frank served as DNR and Corrections secretary under former Gov. Jim Doyle, a Democrat. He spent 22 years in the state Justice Department as an assistant attorney general and head of the agency’s legal division.
Waukesha County District Attorney Brad Schimel, a Republican, and state Rep. Jon Richards, a Milwaukee Democrat, both announced their candidates earlier this month after incumbent Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen announced he won’t seek a third term.
