Wausau (AP) – A new plea deal is in the works for a Wisconsin man accused of killing his girlfriend in her Stratford home.

Thirty-two-year-old Eric Mayer, of Marshfield, previously pleaded guilty to felony murder in the March 2009 death of 43-year-old Cynthia Tyler. A judge allowed him to withdraw that plea after Mayer said he didn’t realize all the facts prosecutors would have to prove if the case went to trial.

Mayer has been free since he posted a $50,000 bond in October 2011.

Daily Herald Media reports that Mayer is expected in court Monday for a plea and sentencing hearing. He had been expected to go to trial this week.
