DARLINGTON, Wis. (AP) – A jury in Lafayette County has convicted a man in the drunken driving death of a passenger in his car.

Twenty-four-year-old Kyle Monahan has been found guilty of homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle and two other felonies in the 2011 crash that killed 21-year-old Rebecca Cushman, of Dixon.

Prosecutors say Monahan was driving his Saab at a high rate of speed near Shullsburg when the car left the road and rolled several times. Both Monahan and Cushman were thrown from the vehicle. The State Journal says Cushman was pronounced dead at the scene, while Monahan was taken by helicopter to a hospital.
