Who’s Doing What: New hires at Michael Best; honors for Godfrey & Kahn

wdw-100113Cameron Field and Daniel Gawronski joined the Madison office of Michael Best & Friedrich LLP. Field works in the environmental practice group and earned her law degree in 2012 from Vermont Law School. Gawronski works in the transactional practice group and earned his law degree in 2013 from the University of Wisconsin Law School.

AWARDS & HONORS

Tim Nixon of Godfrey & Kahn SC received the 2013 Daniel Whitney Award for Outstanding Volunteer of the Year from the Green Bay Area Chamber of Commerce. Nixon is a shareholder and chairman of Godfrey & Kahn’s business finance and restructuring practice group and member of the firm’s corporate and litigation practice groups.

Peter Sommerhauser of Godfrey & Kahn SC was honored by Penfield Children’s Center with the Benefactor Award for his support of the agency’s mission and for contributing to the success of children throughout Milwaukee. Sommerhauser is a shareholder and member of the firm’s corporate practice group in Milwaukee. He has been with Godfrey & Kahn since 1969.

Quarles & Brady LLP received the Beacon of Justice Award from the National Legal Aid & Defender Association. The firm, which received the second such honor in four years, was recognized for its commitment to providing pro bono legal services. Nominated by the State Public Defender’s office, Quarles & Brady was selected for its firm-wide criminal appellate and death penalty representation and a truancy court project in the Appleton School District.

ON THE RISE

Steven Bartelt, Mary Beth Castino and Thomas Kissinger were promoted at The Marcus Corp.

Bartelt, who was promoted to director of legal affairs, joined the company in 2000 as senior counsel. He earned his law degree from the University of Minnesota Law School.

Castino, promoted to director of risk management, joined Marcus in 2000. She earned her law degree from John Marshall Law School.

Kissinger, the company’s general counsel and secretary, now also will serve as senior executive vice president. He joined The Marcus Corp. in 1993 and earned his law degree from George Washington University.

Lydia Chartre, Daniel La Fave, Timothy Posnanski, and Barbara Zabawa were elected shareholders at Whyte Hirschboeck Dudek SC.

Chartre is a member of the real estate practice group in both the firm’s Milwaukee and Madison offices. She earned her law degree from Marquette University Law School.

La Fave is a member of the Milwaukee office’s litigation practice group, where he leads the appellate team and co-leads the product liability litigation and risk avoidance team. La Fave earned his law degree from Northwestern University School of Law.

Posnanski also is a member of the Milwaukee office’s litigation practice group, where he is the co-leader of the real estate and eminent domain litigation team. He earned his law degree from Washington University in St. Louis School of Law.

Zabawa leads the health care law team and works out of the firm’s Madison office, where she practices health care and business litigation. She earned her law degree from the University of Wisconsin Law School.
