As a second-grade teacher, Kevin Henry appreciated the variety that came with teaching the day’s math, history and language lessons.

As a general practioner at Eustice, Laffey, Sebranek & Auby SC, he now enjoys the same work style.

“I have been really attracted to the ability to be a ‘jack of all trades,’” he said, “and … to be able to help whoever walks in the door with whatever problem they have.”

Henry spent two years working for Teach for America in rural New Mexico before he moved back to Wisconsin to be closer to friends and family and pursue law.

“With law, you can, with general practice, have a really balanced career,” said Henry, a 2011 University of Wisconsin Law School graduate.

Henry said meeting an expanding and wide range of general practice cases has involved a good deal of leaning on his fellow attorneys, who he started working with in his last year of law school during a clerkship at the Sun Prairie firm. Whether it’s to hear more on a specific area of legal expertise or, in one instance, sizing up “slippery” opposing counsel in business litigation, his fellow attorneys are willing educators.

“Without their guidance,” Henry said, “I would have lost a lot of sleep wondering if I had made the right decision.”
