A Minnesota attorney suspended in that state for making a litany of false claims while representing clients may now face the same repercussions in Wisconsin.
Christopher Petros, formerly of Tuttle Bergeson PA in Shakopee, Minn., lied about notifying clients of court proceedings, according to a complaint from the Minnesota Director of the Office of Lawyer Professional Responsibility. Furthermore, when the office started to investigate the claims of several clients, he typed up new letters and said he previously sent them to the clients in question, according to the Minnesota OLPR.
Petros admitted to the allegations in June. In August, he was suspended by the Minnesota Supreme Court for 90 days.
Wisconsin’s Office of Lawyer Regulation filed a complaint against Petros on Thursday. It is asking the state Supreme Court to impose the same punishment the attorney received in Minnesota.
Petros did not immediately return a phone call Wednesday. He has not yet responded to the Wisconsin case.
