Wait, where exactly did I move? I guess close enough to a place where a dead body was hidden by alleged prostitutes before being found several days later.

The Wisconsin Law Journal wrote about it at the time because 1: the victim worked in the debt collections department at Kohn Law Firm S.C. and 2: it’s just strange. Several co-workers, including myself, live within a block or two of the victim’s apartment, and the case was one of the first things they told me about after moving in.

I came across the case again Tuesday, when I saw that the three suspects – who are charged with hiding a corpse – are set to appear in court Wednesday in front of Milwaukee County Judge David Borowski. Each faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted.

Now, I am no stranger to strange crimes and stories. At my previous jobs I had to write about a former newspaper reporter who was found dead, buried and encased in concrete. I wrote about some kids who attacked a lawn-care worker after an argument about cleaning up after a dog poo.

But seriously, the AP’s story seems to make a good case for Milwaukee holding its own in the crazy crime department:

According to the complaint, Ashley Howard told police that Glenn Willis picked her up June 14. She said he then bought cocaine and heroin, and then drove back to his apartment where they had sex, he used cocaine and she used heroin. He eventually tried the heroin and fell asleep. She said she later noticed he was struggling to breathe, but she left. She found him dead when she returned with Brittany Clary and Michael Sether.

Sether wrapped up Willis’ body in a comforter, put it in the closet and blocked the door, the complaint alleged. It said the three then shot heroin before leaving and attempting to use Willis’ credit cards. The women returned and used Willis’ apartment to entertain clients, and also used his car, it said.

And hey, if something like this has some sort of interesting legal angle, I’ll write about it. So keep them coming (but for God’s sake, just make sure nobody gets hurt).
