Woman accused in group home theft gets 3 years

RACINE, Wis. (AP) – A woman has been sentenced to three years for allegedly stealing more than $24,000 from three mentally disabled men who lived in a Burlington group home she operated.

According to a criminal complaint, police discovered Becky Ann Borucki was allegedly stealing from the residents at Borucki Group Home after they were contacted by one of the men’s legal guardians.

The 58-year-old pleaded no contest in March to two counts of theft and one of ID theft.

The Journal Times reports Borucki allegedly bought electronics, rugs, clothing, Christmas items and other things.

During the sentencing Monday, she said she was sorry for the pain she caused everyone.

The judge also sentenced her to three years on extended supervision and three years of probation. A restitution hearing is Nov. 21.
