COURT GESTURES: Welcome to Court Gestures, please approach the bench

I don’t think there’s a good way to say hello on a blog. I’d much prefer to meet in person, instead of from behind a computer screen. I’ll give it a shot though.

Hello, and welcome to Court Gestures. If you are reading this, it means that the blog is up and running following a few weeks of newsroom debates about what it should be called, how it should look and what is worthy of a post.

As of about a month ago, I am the new reporter for the Wisconsin Law Journal. My plan for this blog … is still a bit up in the air. I do know that it will range from interesting tidbits and arguments I may see in a court case to straight-up weird legal news.

Sometimes an attorney will talk to me about the ramifications of a Supreme Court opinion, while other times it may be something a bit more inspiring. More will come up, though, but this will be an experiment.

Prior to working at the Law Journal, I was a police and courts reporter at the Pensacola (Fla.) News Journal. Before that, I was a reporter for The Courier and Daily Comet in Houma and Thibodaux, La. But being a Midwest native, I’m glad to be back in a part of the country with four distinct seasons.

In the meantime, always feel free to reach out. Tips, comments or even jokes about attorneys are welcome (Lord knows there are plenty about journalists).

I am always accessible by email or by phone at 414-225-1826.
