The Milwaukee County Courthouse was evacuated at 10 a.m. Friday.
Brendan Conway, spokesman for County Executive Chris Abele, said a painting crew working on the ground floor accidentally set off the alarm.
The Milwaukee Fire Department cleared the building, and people were allowed back inside at about 10:20 a.m.
A fire in the courthouse’s basement July 6 destroyed the building’s electrical system and forced a weeklong closure. The courthouse was completely reopened earlier this week.
