DARLINGTON, Wis. (AP) — A man who pleaded guilty to helping set a house fire that killed his three nephews wants to withdraw his pleas.
Jeremy Wand was to be sentenced in Lafayette County Circuit Court on Friday. Instead he told the judge he felt pressured by his attorney to enter the guilty pleas last month.
The 18-year-old pleaded guilty to three counts of being a party to first-degree intentional homicide and three other felonies. Prosecutors dropped a count of attempted first-degree homicide as part of his deal, but they did not guarantee they wouldn’t seek a life sentence.
Wand’s brother, Armin, was sentenced to life in prison for the fire that killed his three sons and ended his wife’s pregnancy.
WISC-TV reports a hearing on the motion to withdraw the pleas is set for Aug. 22.
