MADISON, Wis. (AP) – The National Association of Attorneys General has elected Wisconsin Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen as its president.

NAAG spokeswoman Marjorie Tharp said the organization, made up of attorneys general from all 50 states and six U.S. territories, elected Van Hollen to the position Wednesday during its summer meeting in Boston. He succeeds Maryland Attorney General Douglas Gansler.

Each NAAG president selects a focus area for their one-year term. Van Hollen said he’ll key on keeping children safe. The attorneys general will discuss the issue and share ideas during NAAG’s presidential initiative summit, set for September in Milwaukee.
