SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (AP) – Jury selection for a 14-year-old boy accused of participating in the slaying of his friend’s great-grandmother is set to begin Friday in Sheboygan.
Nathan Paape and Antonio Barbeau were both charged as adults in the September slaying of Barbeau’s great-grandmother.
Barbeau pleaded no contest earlier this month to a charge of first-degree homicide.
Sheboygan Press Media reports Paape is being tried on the same charge and faces up to life in prison if convicted.
Authorities have said a hammer and a hatchet were used to kill 78-year-old Barbara Olson at her home on Sept. 17. They say the boys then stole money to buy marijuana and pizza. Both were 13 at the time.
