More than 14,000 Wisconsin residents will be receiving money from a national foreclosure settlement.
Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen announced in a news release Tuesday that more than $21.85 million will be disbursed among Wisconsin claimants. Residents will receive about $1,480 for each foreclosed home.
Two-thirds of eligible Wisconsin residents applied for settlement money, so the total allocated to Wisconsin claimants exceeded original expectations by $4.6 million.
Most checks will be mailed June 10-17. Those claimants without social security numbers will be delayed while tax issues are investigated, according to the release, and some later-submitted claims will be settled in the summer.
