MAUSTON, Wis. (AP) — Juneau County’s district attorney says the man charged with shooting two women outside a Mauston bar apparently targeted the victims.

DA Michael Solovey says several other people were standing outside P.J.’s Bar and Grill with the two women when the defendant, Cody Treul, shot the victims last Friday. Twenty-nine-year-old Gail Howland was pronounced dead at a Mauston hospital. Twenty-three-year-old Ebony Lasher is hospitalized in Madison.

Solovey said he’s not yet aware of a motive for the shooting. Treul was arrested in Mauston shortly after the shooting.

Treul is charged with first-degree intentional homicide, attempted first-degree intentional homicide and recklessly endangering safety. Treul’s attorney did not immediately return a call seeking comment.
