SPARTA, Wis. (AP) — A Tomah man has been sentenced to probation and jail time for sexually assaulting a child dozens of times.
Monroe County Circuit Court Judge Mark Goodman sentenced 19-year-old Shawn Mayberry to 10 years’ probation and one year in jail with work-release privileges. Mayberry pleaded no contest to three felonies, including first-degree child sexual assault.
According to a criminal complaint, Mayberry began assaulting the girl when he was about 15 or 16. The victim, now a teen, told authorities Mayberry assaulted her 60 to 70 times over three years.
The complaint says the victim came forward in November and said Mayberry’s brother, Holden, began molesting her in 2005 when she was 8 years and continued for three years. The La Crosse Tribune says Holden Mayberry has been declared incompetent to stand trial.
