MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A Dane County jury has convicted an anti-abortion activist of attempted first-degree intentional homicide for plotting to kill an abortion doctor two years ago.

The jury of seven women and five men deliberated for two hours before finding Ralph Lang guilty. The Wisconsin State Journal reports the 65-year-old Mashfield man showed no emotion after the verdict was read Thursday.

The conviction carries a penalty of up to 60 years of combined prison and extended supervision. Lang will be sentenced in about two months.

Lang was arrested by Madison police on May 25, 2011, after he accidentally fired a gunshot through the door of his motel room.

Lang testified in his own defense Thursday and admitted that he was planning to kill an abortion doctor at a Planned Parenthood clinic.
