The Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors’ Judiciary, Safety and General Services Committee on Thursday gave initial approval to a lawsuit against the former operator of the ski hill at Crystal Ridge in Franklin.

The full board is expected to vote April 25.

The former operator, Greendale-based Midwest Development Corp., sued the county in October, claiming an agreement with Rock Sports Complex LLC, Milwaukee, to develop a multisport complex at Crystal Ridge violated a lease agreement, according to court documents. Midwest claims it was improperly evicted and is owed $7.4 million for improvements made to Crystal Ridge, among other damages. The county denied those claims, according to court documents.

The county’s lawsuit is expected to allege Midwest is responsible for erosion at Crystal Ridge and should pay about $1.1 million to repair the damage, according to a memo sent to the committee.
