MADISON, Wis. (AP) – A nonprofit group has delayed a final decision on whether to add the name of a fallen Wisconsin police officer to its Washington, D.C., memorial.

That’s according to Jim Palmer, executive director of the Wisconsin Professional Police Association.

Palmer says he corresponded by email with several board members of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund during their daylong meeting Thursday. He says the board put off a decision until 2014 on whether to add Wauwatosa police Officer Jennifer Sebena’s name to its memorial.

Sebena was gunned down Dec. 24. Her husband, 30-year-old Benjamin Sebena, was arrested and charged with first-degree intentional homicide.

Palmer says Officer Sebena’s death “clearly meets” the memorial’s criteria for inclusion on its walls.

A message left for the memorial fund was not immediately returned Thursday.
