BRB Publications, a publisher of books and subscriptions on finding public records, has a nice online tool titled the Professional License Verifier.

The free resource provides links to “verify state-issued licenses for individual occupations and businesses.”

The researcher begins by selecting the state of interest. After the state is chosen, a list of professions appear. Choosing the profession of interest will launch a pop-up window. Within that pop-up window, the researcher will find the state, profession, address of the appropriate licensing agency, the agency’s website, and contact information.

BRB also includes a link to the state’s searchable database.

BRB offers a variety of other public record resources that I will cover in future posts. However, to see the scope of its free online tools, check out the free resource center.
