Longtime attorney Brusky dies at 69

Attorney and adjunct law professor Peter Brusky died Tuesday in Bonita Springs, Fla. He was 69.

Brusky was born in Green Bay, grew up in Racine and also was a Wauwatosa and Shawano resident. He was a Marquette University Law School graduate and also an adjunct professor at the school, instructing students on probate administration, according to a death notice from Schmidt & Bartelt Funeral and Cremation Service, Wauwatosa.

After graduating from law school, Brusky practiced estate planning for more than 45 years, starting with von Briesen, Redmond & Schilling SC and then Miller & Niebler SC, Milwaukee, according to the notice. He opened his own law firm, and he practiced there for more than 30 years, many of them alongside his son, Andrew.

In 1992, Brusky received Wauwatosa’s Distinguished Citizen of the Year award, according to the notice. He was president of the Wauwatosa Area Chamber of Commerce, director of the Wauwatosa Historical Society, president of the Kiwanis Club and president of the Boy Scouts at St. Bernard’s Elementary School in Wauwatosa.

He is survived by his wife, Alice, nine children and 11 grandchildren, according to the notice.

Visitation is at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 1500 Wauwatosa Ave., Wauwatosa.
