G. Michael Halfenger has been appointed to a 14-year term as U.S. bankruptcy judge for the Eastern District of Wisconsin. He will take office Jan. 11.
Halfenger is a partner with Foley & Lardner LLP, Milwaukee, and specializes in commercial litigation and business disputes. He is second vice president of the Seventh Circuit Bar Association and is a past president of the Eastern District of Wisconsin Bar Association.
He is currently serving on the Seventh Circuit’s Advisory Committee on Circuit Rules.
He earned his law degree with honors from the University of Chicago Law School where he was also Order of the Coif. He then served as a law clerk to Chief Judge Frank Easterbrook of the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.
