DARLINGTON, Wis. (AP) – Two southwestern Wisconsin brothers accused in a fire that killed three children will be tried separately.

Armin Wand III and Jeremy Wand pleaded not guilty to all charges against them in Lafayette County Circuit Court on Wednesday.

Prosecutors allege the brothers set Armin Wand’s Argyle home on fire Sept. 7 in an effort to kill Armin Wand’s family because he wanted a fresh start.

Armin Wand’s three sons, ages 3, 5 and 7, were killed. His pregnant wife rescued their 2-year-old daughter from the fire, but suffered a miscarriage. The 32-year-old father will stand trial Feb. 25 on eight charges, including first-degree intentional homicide.

The State Journal says 18-year-old Jeremy Wand pleaded not guilty to seven counts, but a trial date has not yet been set.
