The city of Cudahy has settled two lawsuits brought by Walgreen Co. over property assessments at two stores.

Deerfield, Ill.-based Walgreen Co. claimed it overpaid property taxes on Walgreens stores at 3201 E. Layton Ave. and 6241 S. Packard Ave. in 2010 and 2011.

Amie Trupke, who represented Cudahy, said both suits were settled Oct. 13. The settlement did not change the stores’ 2010 assessments, Trupke said, but their 2011 assessments were lowered slightly, and the city will pay a total refund of $2,444.53.

Trupke said the settlement also lowered the property assessment on each property to $2.5 million for 2012.

Assessment information for the two properties shows their original assessments at $2.75 million each for 2012.
