MADISON, Wis. (AP) – An Argyle teenager accused of helping set a fire that killed his three nephews is due back in court next week.

LaFayette County Circuit Judge William Johnston has set a competency hearing Thursday for Jeremy Wand. Judges typically use proceedings to determine whether defendants have the capacity to assist their attorneys.

Wand, 18, faces three counts of first-degree intentional homicide, two counts of attempted first-degree intentional homicide and one count of arson.

Prosecutors say he helped his uncle, Armin Wand III, set a fire Sept. 7 that killed Armin Wand III’s three nephews and nearly killed Armin Wand III’s wife and daughter.

Armin Wand faces three counts of first-degree intentional homicide, three counts of attempted first-degree intentional homicide and one count of arson.
