The Wisconsin Supreme Court has temporarily suspended the law license of a Minnesota lawyer, the court’s second reciprocal-discipline sanction in a week.
Attorney Louis Stockman’s Wisconsin law license was suspended for five months Wednesday by the state supreme court. In February, the Minnesota Supreme Court levied the same sanction against Stockman after finding him guilty on numerous counts of professional misconduct – principally financial and client-related. Wisconsin Supreme Court rules require attorneys disciplined in other jurisdictions to face the same discipline in Wisconsin, absent certain exceptions.
Stockman, of Duluth, did not respond to the Office of Lawyer Regulation’s complaint. He had been licensed to practice law in Wisconsin since 1999.
On Tuesday, the court suspended the license of an Illinois attorney for six months in a separate reciprocal-discipline action.
