Milwaukee County Assistant District Attorney David Feiss found no weight to allegations raised on the floor of a July 24 Milwaukee Common Council meeting that a city official was improperly diverting money from a city account, according to a letter from Feiss to an alderman.

According to Bill Arnold, public information manager for the city, Alderman Nik Kovac suggested that Rocky Marcoux, commissioner for Milwaukee’s Department of City Development, diverted money from the Historical Survey Publication Trust Account. Alderman Robert Donovan then called for an investigation into Kovac’s claim, Arnold said.

In a Sept. 14 letter to Donovan, Feiss wrote that his investigation did not uncover any wrongdoing by Marcoux.

Arnold could not specify details about the allegation, directing that inquiry to Kovac.

Kovac did not immediately responded to a request for comment. Donovan declined to describe Kovac’s allegations, but said he felt it was irresponsible of Kovac to voice those concerns without attempting to verify them. He said he was glad Feiss’s investigation found no impropriety by Marcoux.

Feiss did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
