WAUSAUKEE, Wis. (AP) – A woman allegedly slain by her ex-boyfriend at a Wausaukee gas station feared for her safety but was denied a restraining order against him.
Marinette County Sheriff Jerry Sauve said the 55-year-old man shot his ex-girlfriend, 51-year-old Ann Schueller, at the Citgo gas station where she worked Sunday afternoon, then shot himself in the chest. He remains under police guard in intensive care at a Green Bay hospital. Charges are pending.
WLUK-TV reports court documents show they had lived together outside of Crivitz until the end of last year. Schueller requested the restraining order in June, but a court official denied it, saying there wasn’t enough evidence of a threat against her.
The Marinette County sheriff and district attorney are planning a news conference Tuesday to release more information.
