MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A man and his former fiance have agreed to settle a lawsuit accusing them of evicting a woman from their New Richmond hotel because she refused the man’s sexual advances.

Federal prosecutors filed the lawsuit last year accusing Gerald Hoglund and Stacy Wright of violating the Fair Housing Act.

According to court documents, Wright was running the Lowrey Hotel and Cafe and Hoglund was serving as co-manager in 2009 when a homeless woman rented a room. Hoglund evicted her after she refused requests for oral sex. Wright warned the woman about Hogland but did nothing to stop it.

The settlement calls for Hoglund and Wright to pay the woman $50,000. Hoglund would be barred from working as a landlord.

Their attorney didn’t immediately return a message Thursday.
