Who’s Doing What: Dane County Bar announces grants; new hire at Axley

The Dane County Bar Association’s Delivery of Legal Services Committee announced the Worthy Causes Grants Program has made six awards this year. The following organizations received grants for projects that extend legal services and information to the Dane County Community:

– ABC for Health for HealthCheck Check Marks: follow up to “Badger Care+ Express” project. This project will provide training and information regarding legal issues related to Badger Care/medical assistance.
– Boys & Girls Club of Dane County for Transportation and Outreach to C.O.P.S (Class on Personal Safety) project, specifically for outreach to attract teens to the program, as well as transportation costs relating to getting participants to program events and efforts to educate participating youth about the legal system, to promote positive interactions with law enforcement and the legal system, and inspire investigation into law as a career.
– Dane County Legal Resource Center for printing cost of the Dane County Family Resource Booklets. Booklets will be provided free of charge to low-income litigants.
– Tenant Resource Center for website assistance, including studio time and camera rental to produce materials for education and information about new legislation focusing on SB107 Wis. Act 108.
– The University of Wisconsin Law School Pro Bono Program for software that will be used to create an interactive online ethics course for pro bono law student volunteers and the greater pro bono community.
– Workers Rights Center for the printing of basic rights information sheets in English & Spanish and Wisconsin Workplace Rights Manuals to be distributed at trainings.

Kathryn Grigg joined the family law team at Axley Brynelson LLP, Madison. Grigg’s practice includes cases involving divorce, legal separation, child custody and placement or removal, paternity, child support, spousal support, prenuptial agreements and co-tenancy agreements. She earned her law degree from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 2008.

Kevin Martin, founder of Martin Law Office SC, Oak Creek, was certified as a civil trial specialist by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. He earned his law degree from Marquette University Law School in 2003.

Nelson Still of Whyte Hirschboeck Dudek SC, Milwaukee, was named the firm’s director of operations and information technology. He has more than 24 years of experience in a variety of roles, working in the software, retail, consulting and market research industries. Still earned his MBA from Northern Illinois University and his bachelor’s degree from the University of South Africa.
