Who’s Doing What: Lopez Law joins Murphy Desmond; new hires at The Schroeder Group

Perkins Coie LLP was named one of the 2012 Top 10 Family Friendly Firms by Yale Law Women, a student organization devoted to promoting the interests of women in law school and the legal profession. This is the fourth time in the past five years that Seattle-based Perkins Coie, which has an office in Madison, has been included on the list.

Kevin Delorey, a partner at Quarles & Brady LLP’s Madison office, was appointed to serve on the Steering Committee of the Contract Documents Forum of the Associated General Contractors of America. Delorey’s practice includes all aspects of commercial real estate development, and design and construction contract negotiation and drafting. He received his law degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Lopez Law Group LLC, a Madison immigration law office, joined the law firm of Murphy Desmond SC, Madison. Now operating as Lopez Immigration Law at Murphy Desmond, the practice includes attorney Glorily Lopez, associate attorney Raluca Vais-Ottosen, law clerk Maryam Ghayyad and legal assistant Holly Storck-Post.

Lopez, who joined Murphy Desmond as a shareholder, exclusively practices U.S. immigration and nationality law. Lopez earned her law degree from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 2001.

Vais-Ottosen also works in immigration and nationality law. She earned her master of laws degree from Louisiana State University and is licensed in Wisconsin and New York.

Ghayyad is on track to earn her law degree from the University of Wisconsin Law School in May and become an associate attorney at Murphy Desmond.

Steve Werner, an attorney and shareholder at Murphy Desmond’s Janesville office, was named chairman of the board of directors of Forward Janesville Inc., an economic development organization. Werner has served on the board for more than six years and is past chairman of Forward Janesville’s Government Relations Council. Werner’s law practice focuses primarily on business clients, with an emphasis on formation and planning, transactional law and commercial real estate.

Melissa Mautz, Benjamin Menzel and Jim Reiher joined The Schroeder Group SC Attorneys at Law, Waukesha.

Mautz is a legal assistant with 14 years of experience, primarily in the areas of employment law and litigation, estate planning, and real estate.

Menzel has 10 years of experience in civil litigation, commercial and business litigation and handling debtor and creditor rights.

Reiher has more than 35 years of experience in employment law, civil litigation, personal injury claims and defense, product liability and insurance disputes.

James Peterson, a partner at Foley & Lardner LLP, was selected to receive the 2012 Donald O’Melia Local Service Award from The Wisconsin Law Foundation, the charitable arm of the State Bar of Wisconsin.

The award recognizes a lawyer who has made a significant public service contribution in his or her community. The award will be presented June 14 during the 2012 Member Recognition and Networking Celebration at the Chula Vista Resort in Wisconsin Dells. Peterson is a member of Foley’s private equity and venture capital, transactional and securities, and international practices.
