Brown and Racine counties have two new district attorneys after Gov. Scott Walker made appointments on Thursday.
David Lasee takes over as Brown County District Attorney after six years as an assistant prosecutor. He replaces John Zakowski, who Walker appointed to the Branch 6 circuit court seat in Brown County on Dec. 21.
After graduating from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 2002, Lasee joined the Brown County District Attorney’s Office for three years and returned to the office in 2008.
• In Racine County, veteran prosecutor W. Richard Chiapete replaces Mike Nieskes, who Walker appointed to the Racine County Circuit Court on Dec. 14.
Chiapete served as an assistant district attorney from 1998 to 2005 before he was promoted to Deputy District Attorney.
After graduating from Marquette Law School in 1991, he spent seven years in private practice before becoming a prosecutor.
