The Wisconsin Supreme Court publicly reprimanded Milwaukee solo practitioner Michael Hicks for failing to adequately represent three clients appointed by the State Public Defender during 2007-08.
In its order issued Friday, the court cited Hicks for not keeping clients updated on their cases, failing to file a timely appeals and failing to respond to Office of Lawyer Regulation inquiries.
The OLR filed complaints on Oct. 21 and Nov. 14, Hicks then stipulated to the allegations and recommended public reprimand.
Hicks was admitted to practice law in Wisconsin in 1984 and has no prior disciplinary record.
