After more than a year-and-a-half without a permanent clerk for the Wisconsin Supreme Court and Court of Appeals, the system has one.
Diane Fremgen, clerk of courts in Winnebago County, was appointed Friday to the position by the Wisconsin Supreme Court.
She is expected to move to the Madison area and start on March 5, according to a letter attributed to John Voelker, director of state courts.
Since the death of former Clerk of Courts David Schanker on July 5, 2010, Voelker has served as the interim clerk.
Fremgen became Winnebago Clerk of Courts in 1997. She is president for the Wisconsin Clerk of Courts Association.
